I’m Back on YouTube! What’s Next for the Grown-up Travel Guide Channel

Hi everyone, I’ve got some pretty exciting news about where we’re taking this channel – and, well, life in general! After a bit of a hiatus (okay, a long hiatus), I’m back with a fresh direction and vision for both the channel and the Grown-up Travel brand.

So, what’s new? Let me fill you in…

A Bit of History (Because Context is Everything, Right?)

This YouTube channel started out as a fun way for me to share my travels, all inspired by my travel blog Grown-up Travel Guide. If you haven’t checked that out yet, feel free – it’s been around for a while and has loads of useful travel content. Over time, things evolved, especially when I rekindled my love affair with Africa. I hadn’t been back in over a decade, but when I returned… wow, it was like a whole new world opened up for me. That’s why a lot of the content from the last several years has focused on Africa and safaris.

But just like life, the channel has grown up a bit.

The New Direction: More Than Just Travel

Travel is still a huge part of my life, but I want to go beyond the usual wanderlust. This rebranding under my own name – Andy Higgs – reflects a broader, more exciting direction. Here’s what you can expect from the channel moving forward:

Lifestyle and Culture

Let’s face it, life isn’t just about hopping on a plane. It’s also about experiencing new ways of living, whether at home or abroad.

Food and Drink

Those who know me, know I love my beer. I make it, I drink it, and I’m not shy about sharing my thoughts. So expect to see more food and drink-related content.

Authentic, Grown-up Content

This channel is all about storytelling and sharing real experiences. If you’re tired of the fast-paced, cut-heavy content, you’re going to feel right at home here.

So, Who Is This For?

My goal is to create a community of people over 40 who are ready for the next chapter – whether that’s through travel or exploring new passions at home. There’s going to be something for everyone, and if you’re over 40 and still curious about the world, I think you’re going to love it.

Keeping It Real (No Flashy Editing Here)

You’ve probably noticed by now, I’m not into the whole fast-edit, flashy intro kind of content. That stuff’s great if you’re 18 and have the attention span of a goldfish. But if you’re like me, you want something a bit more… relaxed. You’ll still get the odd jump cut here and there (I do tend to ramble sometimes), but overall, it’s going to be all about authentic, real storytelling.

What’s Coming Up?

I’ve got some exciting plans in the pipeline. Expect more storytelling, some great travel tips, and advice based on years of wandering the world. I’ll also be bringing in a few friends who’ve also been living abroad for ages – we’ll be talking about our experiences, funny stories, and what life’s really like when you take the plunge and move away from your home country.

Oh, and let’s not forget the food, the beer, the music, and everything else that makes life fun.

Join the Adventure!

If any of this sounds even remotely interesting to you, then what are you waiting for? Be sure to subscribe to the channel and hit that notification bell (yes, I said it) to stay updated on new content.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new direction, especially if you’ve been one of the 400+ subscribers who’ve stuck with me on YouTube (even though I’ve been AWOL for a bit). Leave a comment below or on YouTubeand let me know what you think.

Thanks for watching, reading, and sticking with me through this next chapter – it’s going to be an adventure!

I know what it's like to go from being a crazy backpacker without a care in the world, via being a vaguely sensible parent to being an adventurer once more. In other words, evolving into a Grown-up Traveller.

Like everyone else, I love to travel, have visited a lot of countries and all that but my big thing is Africa.

I also own and run The Grown-up Travel Company as a travel designer creating personalised African itineraries for experienced adventurers
