The ultimate Southern Lights time-lapse video

What with all the column inches being given over to its more famous sibling, we thought it was time to redress the balance and award the Aurora Australis its share of the fame. Otherwise known as the Southern Lights, the phenomenon can be seen in Australia (amongst other places) where this spectacular time-lapse footage was shot.

For some reason the people making these films seem compelled to somewhat spoil the experience by adding a naff soundtrack and this one is no exception. But apart from that it’s an equally fascinating and slightly different experience to the video of the Northern Lights we put up here.

I also own and run The Grown-up Travel Company as a travel designer creating personalised African itineraries for experienced adventurers
