Hate Flying? Tackle These Headaches The Right Way

Most people agree that there are good and bad parts of vacations. Waking up in a wonderful, comfy bed in a tropical location? A million times yes. Taking an 11 hour plane ride across the world? It makes you wonder when they’re going to crack teleportation. Well, while we may not have the scientific advances we need to avoid a flight completely, there are steps you can take to make things a little easier and less painful. Here are some of the top suggestions that we recommend you explore before your next trip.

Cut Costs

First, you should think about exploring the best ways to cut costs. Ultimately, one of the biggest problems with flights is that they are incredibly expensive. Indeed, the cost can be so high that it might make you think twice about booking a vacation with the kids at all and that’s understandable. However, there are steps that you can take to cut costs. For instance, you can think about searching a few different websites to find the right deal. Or, alternatively, you might want to consider speaking to a travel guide to see if they can help. Sometimes, they will be able to access exclusive deals that don’t exist online.

Stay Entertained

Next, you should make sure that you are exploring ways that you can keep entertained because it’s fair to say that a typical flight process can be incredibly boring. That’s why it’s worth downloading an app for Solitaire on your phone as well as a few other possibilities. If you do this, then you won’t have to worry about waiting in a room for hours, bored out of your mind. This is also going to make things less stressful.

Find Ways To Relax

When you have a huge fear of flying there can be very few things that calm you down. If you are an adult then you could have a drink at the airport to relax you prior to getting on the plane. Be aware, this is not a great solution and you can’t have too many otherwise they won’t allow you to fly.

Distraction is key here and you need to find ways to keep your mind occupied during the flight. Watching movies that you have downloaded or using the in-flight entertainment options can be a wonderful choice. If you are traveling with friends or family members then you could play games with them during the flight.

Find The Best Airline

The last thing you want to do when booking a flight is go with an airline you have never heard of. This can be a huge factor to people who are afraid of flying. You must always check reviews of airlines as even the ones you think are safe, might not be.

Airlines that also offer holidays are some of the best to book with. Virgin, BA, and JetBlue are a few great options when it comes to airlines. See which deals they have and if they have the destination you are looking for.

Book Package Vacations

Another option for those who don’t like flying is booking package vacations. This saves the hassle of finding flights yourself as your vacation will come with flights as standard. When you do this you also have the choice to change your flight times, if different ones are available.

For example, if you don’t like flying in the dark then you might want to change your night time flight to a daytime one. Purely so you can see what is going on around you and you don’t have to deal with the dark.

Choose The Right Seats

Finally, if you have a massive dislike of being in the air then the last thing you are going to want to do is pick seats right at the front of the plane. If you have scared yourself watching airplane documentaries then you know the front is one of the worst places to sit.

However; if you book your flights or holiday early enough then you have free reign on choosing your ideal seats. Many people with a fear of flying choose to sit in seats near the wings. This gives a smoother flight and you will be one of the first off if anything were to go wrong. Another great tip if you don’t like flying is to sit in an aisle seat, this gives you a view of the alley where the flight attendants are rather than out of the window.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you can take to avoid a nightmarish situation the next time you fly. By exploring the right options you can avoid the trouble and just focus on the wonderful parts of a fantastic vacation.
