How To Keep Kids Happy And Content On An Airplane

Air travels can be difficult for young children, especially those afraid of heights. The only way to ensure a good flight for you and your children is entertainment. Of course, children have a short attention span, making it even more difficult to keep them entertained. So, never rely on a single activity, because this simply will not do. Instead, choose a variety of items and store them in your carry-on bag, where you will have instant access to them. Below, you will discover several tips to help get you prepared for your upcoming air travels.

Healthy Snacks

One thing is for sure young children are always open to a snack. Of course, these products will need to undergo routine screening procedures. Beverages, such as milk and juice will be screened by x-ray. Do not be surprised if the TSA officers performing the screening open the container, because this is a normal part of the procedure.

According to the TSA, there are no known adverse effects of eating foods and beverages that have been screened by x-ray. The TSA prohibits beverages in quantities greater than 100 milliliters or 3.4 ounces to be stored in carry-on baggage.

Approved Toys

There are TSA restrictions that forbid specific toys from being carried onto the airplane. Some toys that are prohibited include glue sticks, play-dough, fidget-spinners and inflated balloons. Coloring books, Koosh balls, dot-to-dot books, paper dolls, stickers, beeswax crayons and finger puppets have all been approved by the TSA for air travel.

Activities

Create a list of activities that will keep your children occupied during your trip. Fairy tale story telling, drawing, coloring, a gentle game of catch and making necklaces with beads are kid-friendly activities permitted on airlines. Just remember that your family is not the only passengers on the plane. So, be sure to take the others into consideration, when you are playing these games with your children.

Let Them Watch The Movie

Pretty much every airplane in the world is going to have a movie for their guests. In fact, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. You can choose between an action movie, romantic movie or a cartoon. You might want to watch a good action movie, but you should think about your children and your other guests. If you want your children to be content and happy during the entire journey, you should make sure that they get to watch the cartoon. You might be bored, but it is far better than listening to a crying child all the way. Plus, this will prevent the other flyers from hating your guts.

Let Them Play On Your Cellphone

While you’re at it, you should consider letting your child play on your cellphone. There is a good chance that you have tons of fun games on your phone. If this is the case, you should let them have at it. Open up a child friendly game and hand over your phone. This will keep your child entertained for a few good hours. In return, you won’t have to worry about your toddler crying in the middle of the flight. Just make sure you put parental controls into place to ensure that your child isn’t using your phone inappropriately.

Set Aside Your Responsibilities And Chat With Them

You probably want to get your work done during the flight. After all, you could use the flight time to write that difficult essay. This is something that you should avoid. I can find someone to  write my essay online. You should consider doing the same. Then, you’ll have plenty of time to spend with your child. In fact, you can use the flight as a bonding opportunity. Speak with your child and get to know more about them. Keep them calm along the way. In return, you’ll be able to prevent your child from causing a scene. Set aside all of your responsibilities and chat with your child to prevent them from going insane.

Try Music

Your iPad is one of the most versatile devices in the entire world. As mentioned above, you can let your child play games on your iPad. Alternatively, you may want to think about letting your child listen to music on the device. There are tons of child-friendly music and they’ll definitely keep your child entertained. Just remember that you’re going to need some headphones or earphones. The music will keep your child quiet during the entire duration of the flight and it’ll prevent the other guests from turning against you.
