Get to the Beach

If the weather is one of the biggest draws to Miami, the beach has to be a close second. Let’s face it, the two go hand in hand; just make sure you’ve got plenty of sunscreen! South Beach is the most popular beach in the city. It’s close to the city and it’s packed with amenities. It’s almost always busy, but that doesn’t make it a bad place to hang out.

If you like something more off the beaten track, there are a few other options. Notably, Crandon Park has a lovely beach. It is smaller and often quieter, with crystal clear water to give you that real vacation feel.

See the Sights

Aside from the beach, there is plenty more to do in Miami. When sightseeing in Miami, there is a lot to take your fancy from architecture to historical sites, you’ll never be bored exploring this city.

First, take a look at some of the city’s awesome art deco buildings. Most are hotels and stores but are still just incredible to view from the outside. You could wander down Ocean Drive – or take a tour there – to really soak up the feel and the architecture of this great city.

For a bit more history, there’s the Villa Vizcaya. Also located near the beach, this old Italian villa now houses the Vizcaya Museum, packed full of Italian statues, music rooms, instruments, and more. One of the best museums in the country for transporting you to another time.

Take a Trip to the Everglades

If you want to get out of the city for a change of pace, you can take a short trip to the Everglades. This evergreen ecosystem is packed with a huge variety of wildlife. Here, you can see flamingos, alligators, manatees, and all sorts of other creatures that would not normally exist in the same area. This mix of tropical heat and greenery makes it a world away from Miami but also a perfect stop on your Florida tour.

Eat Local Food

Miami’s history is rich with Cuban influence. Some of the best food in the area, therefore, has Cuban roots. In fact, almost all the best food in the area is Cuban! If you want local food, check out some of the best hotspots like Calle Ocho, Salao Cuban, and Old’s Havana Cuban Bar. Expect a mix of South American flavors, great cocktails, and amazing fresh seafood.

One of the biggest draws to Miami is the nightlife. As mentioned, the area around Ocean Drive turns into a neon-lit night-time paradise once the sun goes down, and that’s just one of many great nightlife hotspots in Miami. The party continues all night long in this town!

You can find yourself relaxing in a bar with live music until the early hours. Alternatively, Miami is packed full of nightclubs. Places like Mynt Lounge or E11even are placed slightly outside of the city, so you have to book your tickets. But, you can party there all night long!

Shopping Hotspots

Finally, like all great American cities, Miami has plenty of shopping. Whether you’re looking for tourist memorabilia or some classy fashion, you’ll find it all in Miami. One of the best spots to hit is Lincoln Road.

Lincoln Road is an outdoor shopping mall strip, packed with shops, cafes, and restaurants. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy an afternoon spending money and drinking nice coffee, this is the spot for you! You’ll find everything from homeware to high fashion on this strip.
