Why Visit Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush?

Located in West London, Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush have long been popular with those looking to enjoy a quality night out and the areas are home to many trendy live music venues, comedy venues, bars, and pubs.  But there is also a lot more going for Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush than just the night life.

The Shopping

A sister shopping mall to Westfield Stratford, one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, is Westfield London which is located in Shepherd’s Bush.  There are over 250 shops all under one roof in Westfield London to suit a variety of budgets and you will find many recognisable high street brands and department stores here.  There is also an area known as ‘The Village’ which is home to a selection of designer stores as well.  However, Westfield London isn’t the only shopping opportunity you will find here; there are also a few markets which take place including Shepherd’s Bush market, a popular fixture with locals.

The Music

The availability of live music is something we can’t get away without mentioning, especially if you are booked into one of the London Hammersmith hotels and looking for a way to spend your evening; some of the city’s best venues are literally on your doorstep.  This is an area of London which has a variety of live music venues to suit all tastes and budgets from the likes of the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire to the Hammersmith Apollo and Bush Hall.  Whether you want to discover an up and coming new band or experience a headline act, you will certainly be able to find a venue to suit in Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush.

The Theatre

Although many people tend to head to the West End if they want to see a theatre show in London, if you are staying in the area, perhaps at the LUMA CONCEPT HOTEL LONDON then you needn’t travel very far at all.  The Lyric Hammersmith is a modern theatre which hosts a variety of productions from family entertainment shows such as Fantastic Mr Fox to more serious and eclectic productions such as Paul Auster’s City of Glass.

The Parks

London is famed for the number of parks and open spaces which can be found within its walls and there are a number in Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush which are worth exploring if you are looking to enjoy some fresh air and attractive scenery.  Ravenscourt Park, Bishop’s Park and Holland Park are all within easy reaching distance if you are staying in the area.  Whether you need to let the kids stretch their legs or you are looking for a quiet place to retreat, these three parks make excellent options.

The Pubs

Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush are well known for offering a selection of excellent pubs but if you really want to make the most of your time in the area then you can’t go wrong with one of the pubs located alongside the River Thames in Hammersmith.  The Dove, The Blue Anchor and The Rutland Arms are all excellent places to while away an afternoon at the side of this famous stretch of water

I know what it's like to go from being a crazy backpacker without a care in the world, via being a vaguely sensible parent to being an adventurer once more. In other words, evolving into a Grown-up Traveller.

Like everyone else, I love to travel, have visited a lot of countries and all that but my big thing is Africa.

I also own and run The Grown-up Travel Company as a travel designer creating personalised African itineraries for experienced adventurers
