Introduction
Right, let’s get this monster of a post started – with my carefully researched guide to the Bloodline filming locations. First of all, a few things to note – if you haven’t watched Bloodline on Netflix, then what on earth is wrong with you?
It’s one of the best thriller series in years and will keep you guessing right up to the final scene.
The trailer should help convince you:
“We’re not bad people, but we did a bad thing.” Hmm, I reckon he’s only half right there…
Clearly a scene-by-scene guide is going to contain spoilers – that would be an understatement. So if you have somehow missed out on Bloodline, remedy that now and come back here in 13 episodes’ time.
Still with me? Good. You’re either a fan like the rest of us or have the memory of a goldfish and are expecting to have forgotten everything you learn here by the time you start watching the series.
I’m going to assume you’re a fan. Actually I’ve yet to meet anyone yet who watched Bloodline and didn’t love it, so the odds are in my favour.
So, where was Bloodline filmed?
It’s often said that the Florida Keys is as much a star of Bloodline as any member of the cast, and there is a lot of truth in that. A few locals have taken issue with some aspects of the way their home is portrayed (ranging from understandably disliking the human trafficking and narcotics trade storylines to complaining about the Keys being shown as a constantly sweltering beach destination.)
But in general, tourism has received a huge boost from the Netflix show. And unlike some TV series set in Florida but mostly filmed elsewhere (step forward, Dexter…) the Bloodline Filming Locations are real ones that fans can visit – which gave me the inspiration for this article.
It wasn’t always easy. I spent countless hours carrying out online research, poring over Google Maps and trying to obtain clues from pausing the episode and searching satellite imagery for a match.
I had to deal with incorrect information (one blogger confusing the Whistle Stop bar with the Ocean View pub – I mean really!) and some creative license by the film crew, but with a few exceptions I was able to find almost every location used in the first season.
Luck also played a part – there were at least two places for which zero information was available online, but I found on Google Earth purely by chance.
I’ve included those Bloodline filming locations which I couldn’t find and would love to hear from you if you can shed any light on those I missed. And if you find any mistakes, please let me know.
Bloodline Filming Locations: Exploring the Florida Keys
I didn’t bother with the few scenes shot in Miami as the intention was to focus on the Florida Keys, and also omitted those in which it was impossible to determine the location. Places are obviously used many times in the series and are only included the first time they appear.
Most of the action takes place in Islamorada and nearby parts of the Middle and Upper Keys. As you know I visited the area in January this year and I can also tell you that I will be returning with my family at Christmas – at which time I will be attempting to visit each location and any additional ones from the second season.
I have included links to relevant articles on the site as well as to the locations themselves where appropriate. All images and video is credited – the still images from the series are screenshots directly from my Mac and are published in accordance with the “Fair Use” legal interpretation for copyrighted material. Netflix obviously owns the rights to the series, images and video.
I have indicated the run times for each episode as well as the start time and time remaining for each scene. These are as exact as possible and I included both markers because the Netflix app displays different information depending on the device used – on the PC, Mac and iPad app I only see the time remaining, whereas on the PlayStation 3 version I see the time elapsed.
I think that’s all you need to know – we’ve got a lot to get through so let’s get cracking…
The Episodes
The Overseas Highway – The Jugular Vein of Bloodline Filming Locations
Part 1 – Runtime 59:30:00
Elapsed time: 1:26
Remaining time: 58:04
Description: The show opens with a beautiful aerial shot of a bus driving the Overseas Highway which runs all the way through the Florida Keys to Key West.
Location: The section shown is Cross Key before the road swings ninety degrees into Key Largo.
Elapsed time: 02:39
Remaining time: 56:51
Description: Kevin’s boatyard
Location: No amount of research revealed any clue about one of the most important scenes in Bloodline, but I found it by accident on Google Earth. “Ocean Key Marina” is in fact Coral Bay Marina right in the middle of Islamorada. There is little evidence from this scene, but it will become clear later…
Elapsed time: 03:14
Remaining time: 56:15
Description: The Rayburn House
Location: Not only is the actual place real, it actually is a hotel. The bad news is that it is a (justifiably) very expensive one. If you are feeling flush, you can stay at The Moorings Village and Spa where rates start at USD 465 a night and there is a minimum stay of 2 nights.
If you really want the Bloodline experience you can rent the entire two-storey house that served as the Rayburn family residence for the tidy sum of USD 2500 per night…
Alternatively, visit the beach bar at the resort which also featured in the show.
Elapsed time: 07:48
Remaining time: 51:42
Description: Bus ticket booth
Location: The building exists, and is located right next to Alabama Jack’s (see below). You won’t be able to buy bus tickets, though. It looks like this place was dressed by the set designers as Google Earth reveals it to be no more than a plain shack.
Elapsed time: 08:04
Remaining time: 51:26
Description: Islamorada bus stop
Location: John waits for his brother by Abel’s Tackle Box in Islamorada.
Elapsed time: 09:29
Remaining time: 50:01
Description: Bar where Danny buys week-old fish tacos
Location: Alabama Jack’s is a real bar but they are famous for their excellent conch fritters. The nasty tacos were artistic license…
Elapsed time: 11:00
Remaining time: 48:30
Description: Islamorada bus stop
Location: Abel’s Tackle Box
I included this again to point out one of the few continuity errors in the show. The picture above shows the first bus arriving.
The one above here shows the second, later bus arriving. Notice anything? 🙂

Elapsed time: 14:56
Remaining time: 36.06
Description: Family gathers at hospital where Robert has been admitted
Location: Mariners Hospital, Tavernier. It is not clear from any of the scenes in the series but I found out that this was indeed the place it was shot.
Elapsed time: 23:10
Remaining time: 27:52
Description: Eric calls Danny from dock
Location: It’s almost impossible to tell for sure, but it seems like this short scene was filmed at Robbie’s of Islamorada again.

Part 6 – Runtime 57:58:00
Elapsed time: 06:11
Remaining time: 51:47
Description: Lenny on docks
Location: At first I couldn’t find this one. I found the company running the boat in the background but their tours don’t start from the dock shown, so it is presumable somewhere on their route. Then reader John tipped me off that this is probably the Holiday Isle Marina, which makes sense as this was also used in another scene. Thanks!

And that’s it- the best I could do for season one so far. Want all the locations I found on one handy map? Here you go!
And as I publish this post, we have only a couple of weeks to wait for season two…
Too bad the Big Pine Inn burned down. It would have made an excellent place to film, plus it had great food. What an effort Andy! Great post. Can’t wait for season 2 and your follow up!
Mike
First, thanks for doing this, being a frequent Keys visitor I am very interested in knowing these locales. I believe the boat pictured in Part 6 is docked at Holiday Isle Marina. I ran across a thread on the website “The Hull Truth” in which a boat owner talks of his boat being rented by the Bloodline crew for Part 6. The boat matches his description, although the subject matter doesn’t match what he thought it would be. Still, it seems likely to me. Sounds like Season 3 is a no-go due to the non-renewal of tax incentives geared toward film production in the state of Florida. This is assuming Netflix even wanted to do another season, but based on critical acclaim it would make sense to continue. Very disappointing, imo.
Hi John and thanks so much for the tip – you may well be correct here, as that location was used on several occasions. I also read about the tax credit situation but let’s hope there’s a change of mind there – seems crazy for the state to leave money on the table like that.
Great Job! As a local, the outside bar sene 8? Where you state, location unknown? I believe is “Jimmy John’s Big Chill”. Right next door to “Caribbean Club”!
It official..there is a Season 3
And I believe it was Homestead hospital, not Mariners as I was asked to be an extra there. I think the Unidentified motel was also in Homestead.

Great, I will update this one. Not easy to tell for sure from the maps/satellite but I’ll definitely take your word for it!
Send me your email address to thejimbar@optonline.net and I will send you the map showing the location. My family had a vacation house at the other end of the canal for over 35 years.
Will do Jim – would love to check this place out when I visit for Christmas!

Fantastic, thanks Jim. I never realised it was so close to another location! I will add this when I get the chance.
It’s in the same strip mall as “Meats”.

Another one for you!
Season 1, E8 – around 26:40, Marco proposes to Meg.
Had to have been shot at Caloosa Cove behind the Safari Lounge on the point next to the marina. We’ve stayed at that resort several years now.
Cool list!
Shane Myers
Excellent work Shane, I will add it to the list! Thanks for reading 🙂
Hi Andy,
Thank you for all the work on the locations from Bloodline. Excellent work. My husband and I are going down there this week end and we are visiting many locations from your blog. I also red the comments and got info. on where the Red Roof Inn is. We just love the show. I have seen season 1 and 2 twice now. Can’t wait for season 3. Kevin is my favorite character. He is “so Florida” right down to the Salt Life T-shirt, bandana, Costa del Ray sunglasses, bleach blond hair, and sandals. I couldn’t believe the end of season 2. Hope you write more posts about the show.
‘We’re not bad people, but we did a bad thing’
Hi Tove, Thanks for your message, glad you enjoyed it! Let us know how you got on when you visited. I will be publishing a new article on locations from season two later this year so look out for that, and I cannot wait to visit again myself for Christmas which we are spending in Islamorada!
Anyone know where is the house Bo Bridges ‘s character lives in?
So far we’ve not found this – I will cover Season 2 in an upcoming article and hopefully by then we will have located it. It’s a spectacular property, so I would imagine it would be fairly easy to find/spot on Google Maps 🙂
Oceanside between snake creek n tav creek… I’m not sure if I have the directors name but he directed avatar the movie… his home was featured in Costal Living… Polynesia looking home with a long extended dock
James Cameron? Good tip, thanks!
Hi Andy!
Great research! Gosh, what a time you must have had:-) Jim too! There were a few places that are incorrect… i.e. Hospital was Homestead Hospital. Also, we cheated a few places in Homestead to be the keys, thats probably why you were having a hard time locating. Let me know if you are stuck and really want to know where the location was.
Thanks for your comment Molly – were you involved in the production? We’d love for you to fill in the blanks and make any corrections! Also, I am going to need help for the season 2 sites 🙂

Hey that pool is actually at Jacobs aquatic center in key largo, not foimder’s park. Thought you’d like to know 🙂
Thanks, I was a little unsure because it looked like the seating was on the other side at Founder’s Park pool, so that explains it 🙂
The Red Reef Motel is shot at the Rock Reef Resort at 97850 Overseas Highway, Key Largo. Specific unit in scene is in back of property closer to the water.
Hi In last season The house they used to inquire about womans husband abusing her .Was my house my husband built it .Its near what was plantation yacht harbor .Its in several scenes as they hope to use info to help reyburn campaign.Meg and john both goto house Excited. You did a great job my family lived in tavernier and plantation key from 1976 abot 17 years.
What a great story and a fabulous way to show off such a lovely house! 🙂
The cafe is cafe Moka in tavernier.
Thanks Michelle, well spotted! 🙂
Hi Andy,
Episode 13 – the bridges – it’s actually the Seven Mile Bridge and the Old Seven Mile Bridge. Lots of history there: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Mile_Bridge. I also noticed that the Wikipedia entry doesn’t mention Bloodline, if you want to edit it 🙂
Yup – I mentioned that in the post. Was there earlier in the year and cycled across the Old Seven Mile bridge; what an experience!
The scene where Rafi threatens a witness is Gilbert’s upon entering Key Largo.
Aha, that’s interesting. Will have to check it out! 🙂
From a longtime Keys local: Nicely done! Did not know the climactic beach fight was at Long Key. I agree with Monica on the Rafi scene; looks more like Gilbert’s to me. Some of the bar interiors may not actually be in the bars (although some are). The main Bloodline sound stage (in a giant former warehouse near Homestead on the mainland) has an interior set of Rayburn House kitchen and dining room, and (at one time anyway) a set with a bar interior. Also where they do a lot of the police interiors.
The consensus seems to be that it was Gilbert’s – I just got back from the Keys but didn’t have the time to check this one. Next time! I did find the beach at Long Key and while it looked a little different (loads of sea debris on the sand when I was there) it was clearly identifiable. I must have visited well over 20 of these locations and what I loved is that they are all great places and are almost exactly the same in reality as in the show!
THIS is fantastic. Love the show….watched both seasons twice and I live 2 hours north of Islamorada. We go all the time. Going in a few weeks and will use this as my guide!!! BRAVO!!!
Hope you had a great time – we just got back too and adored it (again!) 🙂
Thanks again to Andy, Jim and all those for this great insight! Any info regarding Season 3 filming schedule and locations? My daughter is dying to be used as an extra, plus it would be neat to see the goings on.
Was at Cheeca Lodge & Spa for Halloween and saw directors having lunch at the hotel Tiki bar. They stay there, during shooting.
The cast and crew were in Islamorada in November and December, breaking for Christmas. I think they will be back again this month but am not 100% certain. I do know that they are using additional locations in Season 3, the owner of the Smuggler’s Resort was very excited to have his place included!
Rafi threatening Witness scene was at Gilberts Beach Tiki Bar.
Scene that Meg sleeps with boss in seedy motel room was also Gilberts (Film crew decorated motel room….they are much nicer now after renovation)
Loved the info! We go to the Keys 1-2 times a year and seeing the pictures and what you did was really fun to read. This year we had 10 people staying at the Breezy Palms (http://www.breezypalms.com/) while 8 more were at La Siesta. We surprised my father-in-law. His birthday is on the 29th of December (he turns 90; He is a WWII Vet, Army Air Corp). I believe you shot a drug deal in the parking lot of the Breezy Palms (not sure which episode); If you have a link I would sure like to share that blog info with all the family members who flew in for the vacation. Congratulations on you series and what a great casting job! I believe you had a bridge shut down one time when we were in Layton…lol…island time is fun time.
Location: Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Islamorada is actually the John D. Campbell Agricultural Center located in Miami-Dade County.
Good to know – the actual Sheriff’s Office is not quite as photogenic, I found 🙂
The red reef motel scenes were filmed at Stone Ledge Motel in Key Largo. 🙂
Hi Lauren – yes that seems to be the case, although a couple of people have suggested a different location. I am just back from the Keys but unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to check this location out myself on this occasion, although I did get to loads of the others. Ah well, next time!
The boat used in the scenes is docked at world wide bass pro shops. They just put the name The Rayburn House on it for filming this week. Can’t wait for season 3.
Rumor has it they were filming at the anchor inn Monday. I am here all week and will be in the lookout
What a great read! Are you working on Season 2?
I certainly am 🙂
Love this! Thank you! Your hard work just made this Bloodline Fan hugely happy!!!
Love this outline of scenes. Just back from the Keys. Stayed at Coconut Palm Inn , Key Largo. The receptionist said the ” sex scene” in the car (Meg and developer) in episode 1 was filmed there. Nothing is evident about the setting though I believe that a room card with the hotel logo is flashed in a later episode.
Hi andy… great job with your research… I’m looking for the exact spot where John killed dany… any idea?
Hi Josh,
I moved your comment to this post as you added it to the wrong article. Anyway, the exact spot is in Long Key State Park. You need to walk west (left) along the coast and you will find several beaches. They dressed the set quite a lot; with that log in the water and by removing all the seaweed (unless it was filmed after the tide had carried it away) as when I visited in December it was hard to even see the sand. I will be writing a big new article about my trip to the Keys when I visited and photographed many of these places myself, so watch this space!
This is my best guess as to the exact location of Danny’s murder
Andy, thank you for this! Was just down in the keys last week and used most of these sites to do a bloodline tour. Have you published a similar article with season 2 locations at all?
Thanks again!
Hi Brad,
Glad you enjoyed it – the Keys are amazing, right? I am planning to do a Season 2 article but life has got in the way with the launch of our new tours website – but I will get around to it. It took a long time to do this one but it was a lot of fun!
Cheers,
Andy
We are heading back down to Islamorada again in 10 days and I cannot wait to check out some of these places again! We spend one day checking out the sites, which really just turns into a bar crawl. Cheers!
Nice job finding the places!!!
I was trying to find Eric O’bannon’s hideway on season 2… anyone can pintpoint the location?
Thanks!
Does anyone know where Reds house was shot?
Thank you for this! We are in the Keys now and stopped at Whistle Stop last night. I was looking for where the bait shop scene was filmed, so thanks for your post!! Love the series!
My pleasure! We loved the Whistle Stop 🙂 Lucky you being in the Keys, very jealous! Have a great time 🙂
Does anyone know where John Rayburn’s family home was located? Not the Inn but the home he and his wife and kids lived in?
Thanks
Hi Joanne,
If you check under Part 10, you can see where it is. It is also marked under John and Diana’s House on the map. Good luck 🙂
Re-watched the show before our return to the Middle Keys, our first since Irma. At 48:39, Meg and Marco are at Cafe Moka in Tavernier.
